spotDL

About, Privacy & Disclaimer

spotDL is a free, open-source Spotify downloader that turns Spotify tracks, albums, playlists and artist links into organized local audio files. It uses Spotify to identify the music and collect metadata - titles, artists, albums, release dates, track numbers and artwork - then finds matching audio through supported providers such as YouTube Music and embeds the tags that keep a collection clean and usable.

The project is an independent, community-maintained piece of software distributed under the MIT License. What began as a command-line tool for finding Spotify tracks on YouTube has grown across several major versions into a broader music-library application with album, playlist and artist downloads, automated track matching, configurable audio and lyrics providers, playlist synchronization, metadata repair, a local Web UI, Docker support and automation-friendly commands.

The source code, release history, documentation, issue tracker and contribution process are public. You can find the project on the official spotDL repository on GitHub.

This is an independent information and download site. It is not the official spotDL project page, and it is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Spotify, YouTube, Google, any record label, or the spotDL maintainers. Spotify and YouTube are trademarks of their respective owners.

Privacy

This website is a static informational site. It does not run advertising, analytics or third-party tracking scripts, it does not set tracking cookies, and it does not ask for or collect personal information such as your name, email address or payment details.

Like virtually all websites, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs (for example IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and reliability. These logs are handled by the host and are not used to build advertising or marketing profiles.

Some links lead to external services such as GitHub and software providers. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which govern any data they collect once you leave this site. The spotDL application itself runs on your own computer; this website does not process, host or store any downloaded audio, and it is not involved in what the application does on your device.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date below.

Disclaimer & responsible use

The information and download links on this site are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The site owner is not liable for any damages or data loss arising from downloading, installing or using the software, or from following any instructions provided here. Always review software before running it and keep backups of important data.

spotDL is a general-purpose tool for managing audio that you are legally permitted to download or process. Copyright law, private-copy exceptions, platform terms and permitted uses vary by country, source and recording. Downloading a file does not transfer copyright ownership, grant redistribution rights, authorize commercial use or override a platform's terms. You are responsible for determining whether a particular download and use are permitted, and for complying with applicable law.

The application can only download audio that a configured provider makes accessible - it does not bypass the basic limitations of its source providers, and it does not download Spotify's own audio streams.
